Welcome to this week’s Mosaic Chain developer status update. Below is a quick overview of what the team worked on this week, followed by what we’re planning to move forward with next week.
THIS WEEK’S PROGRESS (SEPT 21 – SEPT 25)
This week the team shipped a new Mainnet runtime upgrade and kept the major initiatives advancing.
The validator NFT auction moved from the pallet into indexing and UI work, and on the operational side the Nebula certificate rotation completed successfully on all online nodes.
Mainnet coretime was also renewed again, now through November 15.
✅ Mainnet Runtime Upgrade
- A new runtime upgrade was enacted on Mainnet, bringing the latest protocol-level changes live along with an update to the polkadot-sdk base.
🔧 Blockchain Runtime Changes
These are protocol-level upgrades - they lay the groundwork for new capabilities but aren't directly usable through the UI yet:
- The validator NFT auction house pallet is complete; the auction processor is under review, with end-to-end tests in progress.
- mosaic-DID pallet integration continues, laying the foundation for on-chain identity for Mosaic Trust Network.
- Session-key proof of possession is now mandatory in the runtime, so validator onboarding and key rotation were adapted to provide it, and the key rotation flow shipped to Mainnet.
🖥️ Indexing
- The large indexer release moved to testing.
- The per-pool swaps endpoint and the faster catch-up optimization are under testing.
- NFT auction indexing (auction processor) is under review with end-to-end tests.
- Further indexer optimizations are in progress, including block explorer statistics fixes.
🎨 Frontend
- The transaction review popup remains under review - it lets users review the call to be signed and choose which asset to pay the fees in.
- Work started on a proxied call option in the same popup, allowing transactions to be signed on behalf of another account.
- Validator NFT auction UI design is in progress, based on the new dutch auction pallet.
- Mosaic Chain Mainnet is now included in the Talisman wallet; support on our side will follow next week.
- The redesigned NFT page and persistent notifications are under review.
- LP tokens are now displayed on the account details page, and aggregated time data respects the user's timezone.
🖥️ Admin Backend
- File sharing through the dashboard moved to testing.
- The dashboard accessible on the local network is in review.
- Multi-user support is in review.
- A Unix socket admin API for chilling and unchilling a node from local scripts is in progress.
- Remote shell access remains in progress.
- The key rotation proof-of-possession flow shipped to Mainnet.
🖧 Infrastructure
- The Nebula certificate rotation completed successfully on all online nodes; offline nodes will be updated once they come back online, though minor hiccups may occur for them.
- Mainnet coretime was renewed again, now securing block production through November 15.
- The first Mainnet Nebula relay machine was bootstrapped, and relay support is being rolled out - this may help nodes with nebula connection problems.
- Work continues on an end-to-end encrypted peer-to-peer connection, reducing our reliance on gateways.
- Validator OS rework continues: new Debian packages and repositories, restore-script integration into the installer, and Ansible removal.
NEXT WEEK’S FOCUS (SEPT 28 – OCT 2)
- Starting the implementation of the validator NFT auction UI, which is now pretty much designed
- Continuing the indexer testing
- Continuing admin backend improvements (multi-user support, Unix socket admin API, remote shell, locally accessible dashboard, file sharing)
- Working on mosaic-DID integration
- Continuing the Nebula relay rollout
- Adding Talisman wallet support on our side
- Reworking Validator OS tooling (Debian packaging, restore script, Ansible removal)
